Polycystic kidney disease is the most common hereditary kidney disease. In this disease, which occurs equally in men and women, there is a large number of cysts in various organs in the body. The most important risk of this disease is that it will cause kidney failure in the future. Polycystic kidney disease is the cause of kidney failure in 5-10% of patients who need dialysis treatment due to kidney failure or who have had a kidney transplant.

The following complaints may occur in polycystic kidney disease.
Back and side pain
Seeing blood in the urine
Urinary tract infection
High blood pressure(hypertension)
If polycystic kidney patients are not treated adequately and on time, problems such as heart valve disorders, aneurysms in various vessels (especially in brain vessels), diverticula in the intestines (glove-like enlargements in the intestinal wall) and hernia (hernia) development may occur. The diagnosis of polycystic kidney disease is made by ultrasonography, computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging methods.
